• Kappa Delta Phi NAS, Kappa Lambda Chapter Donates To The Make-A-Wish Foundation

  Shanna Miller and Dayna Jandreau, the two newest sisters of Kappa Lambda, organized a wonderful philanthropy while they were pledging this fall. Shanna and Dayna teamed up with Macy’s Department Store in the Bangor Mall and encouraged students and teachers at Husson University to write letters to Santa Claus. Not only was this helping to get folks in the Christmas spirit, but also, Macy’s said they would donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for every letter that was written to Santa Claus.

  Shanna and Dayna took a week out of their busy pledging schedules to gather as many letters as they could from the University community, advertising in the campus center for five straight days. Teachers at the University even used class time to have their students write letters to donate towards the cause.

  In the end, Shanna and Dayna ended up raising over $730 dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation! We at Kappa Lambda are very proud of them for the wonderful work they did!

• Kappa Delta Phi – Lambda Chapter Brothers Race For The Cure.

  More than 4,000 men, women, and children gather in downtown Bangor on September 21. Among these racers were four Kappa Delta Phi Brothers from Lambda chapter at Husson University..Brothers Jacob King, Chris Stevenson, Eric Morrow, and Seth Cleaves laced up their running shoes and joined thousands of other racers to help raise money in hopes to find a cure for breast cancer. The race was a great success with over $200,000 being raised for the cure. This was a very fun philanthropy and allowed the brothers to show of their black and gold colors (with some pink thrown in there too). It was a great event and hopefully it will continue to grow in years to come.

  Four Brothers of Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity, Lambda Chapter at Husson College

  took part in performing the play Alice in Wonderlan at Husson College April 25,26,and 27.

  The play was a success and ticket sales packed the house.

  All of the money we raised went to the Bangor YWCA as scholorships for children for summer camp at the YMCA. The Husson College Circle Performers were able to raise over $700 and the brothers from Lambda chapter who were in the play had a great time performing community service. Brother not in the play were in attendance to support their thespian brothers and contribute to donations.

• Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity and Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority Chapters Participate in Local MDA Walk

  On Sunday, April 27, 2008, two Bangor area chapters participated in the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Walk, held at the Bangor Mall. Kappa Delta Phi National Affiliated Sorority, Kappa Lambda Chapter of Husson College, and Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity, Alpha Alpha chapter of the University of Maine showed their support by raising funds and awareness, and by participating in the walk around the mall.

  The MDA serves people in the community with neuromuscular diseases by providing clinics, support groups, assistance with the purchase and repair of wheelchairs, braces and communication devices, as well as summer camp for kids. MDA also funds research seeking treatments and cures for more than 40 neuromuscular diseases that affect people of all ages, right here in our community.

  Over $2000 total was raised for this event. A great time was had by all, and it was a great chance for brothers and sisters to come together for a great cause.

  Early news in on two of chapters. Lambda Colony and Chi Chapter have won their campus Greek Games.

  Congratulations to Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi at Southern New Hampshire College and Lambda Colony of Kappa Delta Phi at Husson College.

  Lambda Colony is one of special note, after being inactive for nearly five years, and being reactivated by alumni, the newly active Brothers of Lambda Colony won Greek Games at Husson College and was named Fraternity Champion of 2007.

  Lambda Colony of Kappa Delta Phi at Husson College is proud to serve their community.

  On February 9th the brothers of Lambda Colony visited the children’s wing of Eastern Maine Medical Center. They enjoyed spending time playing with the terminally ill children and making them smile. They also painted the windows of the wing to bring a little personality to the hospital and to brighten everyone’s day.
