    Alpha Gamma Alumni raises $415 for Family of New Paltz. Even though they are alumni, no longer living in New Paltz, and have settled into alumni live, they are still giving back to the town. Congratulations to the Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity, Alpha Gamma Chapter Alumni for continuing the generous acts of community service.

    Brother Robert Leno, founding father of Xi Chapter, will be missed by all. He was an inspration to genarations of Kappa Delta Phi men.

    lenoRev. Robert “Bob’ Leno, 75, died Sunday, November 29th at Berlin Health & ReHab Center. He was born July 23, 1934 at the former Heaton Hospital the tenth child of Lena M. (Cady) and Perley Leno Sr.

    Bob received his early education in the Montpelier Public Schools System. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1954. Following high school that year, he joined the United States Navy, serving on the East Coast and two years in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba from 1955-57. While serving with the Navy he sang with the All Navy Choir on the Ed Sullivan Show.

    After his discharge in 1958, he attended Lyndon State College earning a teaching degree. He taught schools in North Hero and many years in Williamstown, VT. He retired in 1986. After his retirement from teaching, he became a United Methodist Church Minister. He graduated in 1993 from Wesley United Methodist Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. He served as pastor in West Topsham, Waits River, Riverton, and West Burke United Methodist Churches and he retired in 2002 from his last assignment at Denton Community United Methodist Church, Denton, Montana a part of the Yellowstone United Methodist Conference.

    Bob was a charter member of Kappa Delta Phi fraternity at Lyndon State College. He was a member of Capital City Grange in Berlin where he was past master, a member of Winooski Valley Pamona Grange, Vermont State Grange and the National Grange of Washington, D.C. Bob was a life member of the Montpelier Elks Lodge # 924 and American Legion Post # 3 of Montpelier and Vermont American Legion. He participated a number of years with the Green Mountain Boys State Program. He was a member of the West Burke United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church, and a member of the Dalton Gang, a western gun club of Dalton, NH.

    Bob was never married. He leaves one sister, Janice L. Bragdon of Easthampton, MA; two brothers, Bernard C. Leno and his wife, Jeannie of Montpelier; Morris E. Leno and his wife, Marilyn of Schenectady, NY and several nieces and nephews.

    He was predeceased by eight siblings, two sisters and a brother at birth; 5 brothers, Philip P. Leno, Harold C. Leno, Howard S. Leno, Perley Leno, Jr., and Richard E. Leno.

    A Memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 137 Main Street, Montpelier on Tuesday, December 8th, at 10:00 am. There will be a reception following the service at the church. Burial with be at North Branch Cemetery, Middlesex, VT.

    Kappa Delta Phi Brother Mountain

    This one comes as a shock and many Kappas are reeling from and mourning his loss.  He went into the hospital for a broken shoulder and things just got worse. Rest in peace Brother Mountain.

    Dana C. Mountain, 42, beloved son of Charles and Joan (Audette) Mountain, died Nov. 20, 2009, after a brief illness at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 2, 1967, in Presque Isle. Dana graduated from Central Aroostook High School and the University of Maine at Machias with a Bachelor of Science degree in parks and recreation management. He was a member of Kappa Delta Phi Eta chapter fraternity. Even after 20 years he still stayed in touch with all his brothers and sisters young and old. He was loved by all. Dana enjoyed hiking and kayaking around the “island” and spending time at camp. In addition to his parents, Dana is survived by his three sisters, Gail Mountain of Presque Isle, Jane Stephenson and her husband, Jeff, of Mapleton and Lisa Scott and her husband, Clark, of Bridgewater; two nieces, Amanda Hopkins and her husband, Randy, of Fort Bliss, Texas, and Jenna Stephenson; three nephews, Jonah Stephenson, Colby Scott and Carson Scott; and special friends, Karl, Heather, Charles, Emma, Maya and Julia Watras. Dana was predeceased by a brother, Jere Mountain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mars Hill, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. Interment will be at Pierce Cemetery, Mars Hill. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , 170 U.S. Route One, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105. Condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.

    Kappa Delta Phi Brother Maybury

    Brother Seamus Maybury (CHI Chapter) is fund raising money by running the New York City Marathon which covers the 5 boughs of NYC on Sunday, November 1, 2009

    Brother Maybury has already secured $2500.00 in donations and is asking that at least 100 Brothers & Sisters of Kappa Delta Phi to Donate $1. per mile. That is only $26.

    All money raised will be going toward the for Ronald McDonald House of New York For Kids With Cancer.

The funds raised through this endeavor are crucial in keeping our facilities open and affordable to the families who stay here.
